The SC Troopers Association was formed in 1987 with the following purposes and objectives in mind:

• To achieve more effective and better ways and means for the South Carolina Highway Patrol to serve the citizens of the state of South Carolina
• To strive to upgrade the salaries, working conditions, retirement benefits, fringe benefits, equipment and other aspects of employment of South Carolina Highway Patrol personnel;
• To stimulate mutual cooperation between the South Carolina Highway Patrol and other police agencies throughout South Carolina;
• To promote a spirit of cooperation, mutual support and fraternalism among members of the South Carolina Highway Patrol;
• To elevate the standards of policing throughout South Carolina by increasing professionalism among all members of the Highway Patrol;
• To work with the South Carolina Highway Patrol in furthering the above purposes;
• To do anything necessary and proper for the accomplishment of any of the purposes set forth above
• To otherwise be organized and operated exclusively for such nonprofit purposes as shall be consistent with exemption from federal tax under Section 501(C)(5) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954, as now in force or hereafter amended.
