The South Carolina Troopers Association Foundation’s purpose is to support our South Carolina State Troopers, Department of Public Safety commissioned officers, communication and support personnel by providing financial assistance in times of emergency need, line of duty survivor benefits at death, education and training programs, and scholarships for qualifying family members. The South Carolina Troopers Association Foundation is also dedicated to supporting local communities by partnering with corporate sponsors and civic organizations to promote programs, projects, and donations that assist citizens in need and fosters an environment of trust and cooperation among the public, private organizations, and law enforcement.
SCTAF GOALS & OBJECTIVES
To advance the mission of the South Carolina Troopers Association Foundation, the Foundation will provide scholarships and grants for:
• College tuition
• Community outreach
• Professional Development for Law Enforcement Training
• Post critical event support funding
To accomplish this mission, the Foundation has fostered partnerships with governmental agencies, businesses and other non-profit organizations. These partnerships are essential in facilitating outreach programs that impact our communities.
THE SCTAF IN ACTION
Several months ago the Foundation was contacted by the South Carolina Highway Patrol regarding a two vehicle collision that involved a single mother and an impaired driver. Sadly, the single mother succumbed to her injuries sustained in this fatal collision; orphaning her five minor children. As a result the children were placed in the care of their maternal grandparents. This, as you can imagine, caused an immediate shift in the grandparent’s household dynamics. The impact of this unimaginable loss, coupled with limited financial capabilities and a home desperately in need of repair, left this family in need of assistance.
Through our partnership with the Michael J. Mungo Foundation and the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the Foundation assisted this family in making the necessary repairs, allowing the family to stay together.
These partnerships have enabled the South Carolina Troopers Association Foundation to provide life changing community outreach efforts and experiences to the residents of our state by bridging the gap between law enforcement and our communities.
